The Man Who Wouldn't Be God By Shashi Warrier

This book was my first book by this author. The title sounded insterting . In the first chapter of this book we find Bala Kamath an alcoholic person. He won't only lose his job an investigative journalist but is on the verge of a marriage break up. Luckily for him his job can be saved. A swami near Mangalore is alleged to have stolen money , given assply to criminals and tried to rape a devotee.

The Swami Prakash and Bala form a bond .The way swami is described I feel he believes in simple living high thinking. They talk about sciptures. Alot of philosophy is discussed between the two. Bala feels sorry for Swami once he is arrested.

Bala is the only person that Swami is willing to talk to. While talking to Swami, Bala finds a lot about himself. In trying to discover the truth about the charges that have been put on the swami he realizes his own life is in danger. While going on his scooter some van knocks him out.

The doctor at the hospital tells Bala That he would be out of action for a while. Bala is not dis courageed and tries to investigates from his hospital. Life athe ashram is also talked about since Raju Swami second in command was killed there.

The India I Love By Ruskin Bond

This book is sort of his autobiography. The reason being he talks about his life. This book has been made from his dairy pages.

This book has both poems and stories about his life in India. There are stories about his childhood days. The book starts with a poem called come roaming with me.

The next story we see a girl meeting Ruskin on his daily walks. She does not come for a week. when she does she says that she been helping her mother in the field.

Ruskin is not married but stays with Prem who is married and has children. Ruskin plays with them like his own. A lot has been written about the children. He likes the weather in India having lived aboard. Ruskin was shy and hence did not form relationships with many people.

Relationship with people that Ruskin formed is given likeSudheer. He used to ask Ruskin to keep cosmic for him .

Areas around Dehradun are described in great detail. It seems Ruskin led quite an eventful life.

This book is simple and I liked it.

The Naughtiest Girl Again By Enid Blyton

Imagine a boarding school that has meetings so the children can decide on things that matter to them. Welcome to Whyteleafe School. Elizabeth had been naughty the last term. This term she has decided to turn over a new leaf.

There are two new students Robert and Kathleen. Both get on a wrong footing with Elizabeth. Robert is a bully and small children are scared of him. Elizabeth doesn't like this. When Robert gets all his sums wrong Elizabeth is happy.

In the school meetings, one can complain about other children. Elizabeth tells about Robert in one such meeting. But the bullied boy is afraid of Robert and does not tell the truth about what has happened. But in a fist of anger, Elizabeth had slapped Robert. Thus the meeting finds Elizabeth guilty and she is asked to apology to Robert. That makes things worse between the two.

The fights are not all that happens. Everyone who has money gives it in the meeting. Then the money is distributed between all the children. The children also learn about accepting out mistakes and owing up. When Robert accepts the wrong he has done the whole school helps him to turn over a new leaf.

Believe it or not, this school allows students to keep pets. Thus there is a mouse as a pet.Imagine what happens when this mouse escapes into the classroom.

This book will not only entertain the kids but as an adult, you will remember your school days.
